- Shock wave therapy (SWT) is a non-surgical method of treating diseases using a shock wave pulse generator. Acoustic shock wave passes through soft tissues, without violating the integrity of the skin and tissues, reaches the bone structure and affects the localization of pain.
- SWT can be used in urology, surgery, for the treatment of a number of diseases of the musculoskeletal system and the nervous system, and for some cosmetic procedures.
EFFECTS OF SHOCK WAVE THERAPY ON THE BODY:
– blood circulation in tissues improves, new blood vessels are formed;
– metabolic processes and local immunity are activated;
– cells are renewed, their recovery and growth occurs faster;
– loosening of microcrystals of calcium salts, resorption of areas of fibrosis;
– stimulates the production of collagen and restores the elasticity of the ligaments, articular mobility;
– muscle tension decreases;
– chronic inflammation is eliminated;
– lymph outflow is stimulated, swelling decreases;
– fat deposits are reduced.
BENEFITS OF SHOCK WAVE THERAPY:
– high efficiency (one of the most effective methods of treatment for plantar fasciitis, in other words “heel spur”, epicondylitis, frozen shoulder syndrome, Peyronie’s disease);
– the safety of the method (the action of the shock wave is directed to the problem area, the systemic effect is practically absent);
– the minimum number of contraindications and side effects;
– reduction of pain already during the procedure, after each subsequent procedure, the analgesic effect lengthens;
– the frequency of the SWT procedure – 1 time per week, in some situations 2 times a week;
– the course of treatment is 5-7 procedures, in advanced cases up to 10;
– the procedure is performed on an outpatient basis, the duration of 1 procedure is 10-30 minutes;
– a persistent positive effect is observed in 90% of patients after the end of treatment.
