Vaccination Against Cervical Cancer: Gardasil 9 and Cervarix

HPV is a very common virus that is most often transmitted through sexual contact. Most women and men become infected at least once in their lifetime. Certain types of HPV can cause precancerous changes and cervical cancer, as well as cancers of the vulva, vagina, anal canal, and penis.

To reduce the viral load on the body and ensure a milder course of viral infections, vaccination is the most effective method. The vaccine contains virus-like particles (VLPs) of various types of human papillomavirus (HPV). These particles do not contain viral DNA and therefore cannot cause infection. They simply “train” the immune system to recognize the virus and fight it.

Therefore, vaccination is the best way to prevent the development of these diseases. Vaccination creates strong and long-lasting immunity, prevents precancerous changes, reduces the risk of HPV-related cancers, and is recommended worldwide as a standard preventive measure.

At our Androcenter clinic, vaccination is carried out using Gardasil 9 and Cervarix vaccines.
These are modern and highly effective vaccines for the prevention of cervical cancer caused by human papillomavirus. They protect against some of the most dangerous HPV types — 16 and 18.

Who is vaccination recommended for?
– Girls and boys aged 9–14 — the optimal age for maximum protection (2 doses).
– Girls and women aged 15–45, boys and men up to 45 years old (3 doses).
– Vaccination is possible regardless of sexual activity.

Vaccination schedule
– Ages 9–14: 2 doses (0 and 6 months)
– From age 15: 3 doses (0, 2, and 6 months)

Safety and effectiveness
Gardasil 9 has a high safety profile, protects against 9 of the most dangerous HPV types, is used in more than 100 countries, and is recommended by:
– World Health Organization (WHO)
– U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)
– European Medicines Agency (EMA)
Statistics show that vaccination significantly reduces the number of precancerous changes and effectively prevents the development of HPV-related cervical cancer.
